 Question

Will Magna Purge® help eliminate black specs?

Answer

Yes, Magna Purge will get rid of black specs, carbon and residual buildup. Some commercial Purging Compounds use a Styrenic based carrier which can actually be a source for black specs. Magna Purge® uses a modified PP carrier with additional proprietary chemical components to eliminate the problem rather than contribute to it.

Question

Why are there only 2 grades of Magna Purge®?

Answer

Both PP 105 and PP 105 G use a modified PP carrier with additional proprietary chemical components that cover a broader heat range, thus eliminating the need to stock multiple grades. PP 105 G has a percentage of glass fiber added for additional mechanical action required for more difficult cleaning of products containing fillers and heavy colorant use. Both grades can be used on all processes with the exception of PP 105 G, which is not recommended for Preform applications.

Question

Is Magna Purge® effective on all resins?

Answer

Yes. Depending on the resin/material you are processing, problems you are experiencing such as, streaking, black specs, carbon buildup and colorant use; we will recommend the appropriate grade for your situation.

Question

Do we use our normal shot size while purging?

Answer

We recommend reducing the shot size to 10%of the maximum allowed shot size. This works the check ring and allows for faster cleaning and removal of colorants.
